Let’s get started
First entries are hard. There is always that awkwardness of me jumping into a conversation with you the reader, and in reverse you have the shock of skidding into a conversation that has been going in my head for awhile. I put this in the About the Author area and I invite you to read it as a beginning.
How do I have a blog about Modern Homes in my hometown? It was like most things I appreciate in life, a circuitous route and one that I suspect is still forming. I found my true love and best friend, Brad later in my life. He was house-sitting for a family friend early in our courtship and as I entered the outside of the house, I thought frankly it was ugly. It was bare and didn’t fit with the neighborhood. But when the door opened I found this feeling slipping in my brain and base emotional response. It was one part wonder. One part brain click. I understood now why there was appeal. This family friend had created a very warm, very calm presence smack dab in a modern setting. She had accentuated key aspects of the design with color and texture but left the key aspects of modern design all around it. I was astounded and hooked.
So we are off and running. I open with this:
- Escape Into Your Cave by Designer: Sakura Adachi
Why I like this: It combines the form and function at the very base level. I quiet nook to enjoy reading or quiet time nestled in the storage place itself. I would prefer different textures of wood and color but this is a start.
